Pregnancy Care
Your first two visits for pregnancy care may take up to 1 hour. We want to hear your story: your medical and family histories, your birthing history and your hopes and fears for this pregnancy. We also will do blood work at this time for a complete prenatal panel. Your second visit will consist of a physical examination, review of your history, prenatal labs, and a discussion of your plan of care. Visits after that are scheduled for 30 minutes. However, if a client needs more time with a midwife, that can always be arranged.
A midwife is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Each client is provided a call schedule with the midwives’ home phone numbers and pager numbers. These numbers are also available on the voice mail at the main number (828)236-0032. Clients may also leave voice mail messages at this number and these will be answered during regular office hours.

For Established Clients, We Offer Primary Care within the Scope of Nurse-Midwifery.
This means we can take care of upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections, vaginal conditions and other minor illnesses. We do prescribe medications as well as alternative remedies. For conditions beyond our scope, we may consult with a physician, co-manage or refer to a specialist. We have a supervising physician who is available to the midwives around the clock. We also make referrals to alternative care providers in the community.
